about

Inspired by and using elements of Greek Moiroloi (death lamentation) and folk traditions, Hungarian lamentation singing. Also features vocalisations that imitate/exaggerate the uncontainable utterances of intense grieving.

The lyrical element, sung in Hungarian but derived from both traditions, relates to the mourning of lovers or children.

This work is dedicated to Anna (Άννα), who left early on the 14th of June 2013.

lyrics

Miért repültél el tölem, kismadárkám?
Gyere haza, kismadárkám!
